ABOUT US
Conserving Australia's Mountain Top Biodiversity
MISSION & GOALS.
1.
Establish a secure network of ex-situ collections to conserve climate threatened tropical mountain plants.
Determine optimal approaches for ex-situ seed banking of selected climate threatened tropical mountain plants including seed storage and germination requirements.
2.
3.
Determine landscape patterns of genetic diversity of climate threatened tropical mountain plants to inform ex-situ conservation strategies and interpretation of physiological response to extreme climates.
Determine the physiological tolerances of climate threatened tropical mountain plants to climates beyond those normally experienced in the wild.
4.
5.
Improve public awareness of the threat of climate change to tropical mountain biodiversity and the role of science and botanic gardens in understanding and mitigating this threat.
